Pop Corn Made on the fire
As you know easter weekend was super cold . Those who went camping came home early, with only the brave staying. I had some friends over for the weekend and woke up to wanting to stay in bed all day as the weatehr was just horrific. I obviously couldnt stay in bed so I jumped in my boots and told the bunch we going wood hunting at the closest forest , at about 10 am we came back with the back of my van filled with wood, it was so much fun. Immediately we started the fire to keeps us warm and save us from being indoor.
At 10pm we were still sitting around the fire playing poker and I needed a snack. All day, I wasnt prepared to be in the kitchen while the fun was outside so kept the cooking to the fire, and this was not going to change. So pop corn fired up is what I was going to make.
What I used:
1 tablespoon real butter
2 tablespoon oil
100g Corn
1 teaspoon salt
twig of rosemary
All I did was, throw all these ingredients together in a cast iron pot, gave them a good stir, added the lid and wacked that straight onto the coals. Stiring every two minutes by holding the handles of the pot with a oven glove and just turning the pot from side to side. DO NOT OPEN IT!
Depending on the heat your coals are producing cooking time would be different. Just keep your ear to the popping and once the corn starts to pop rapidly keep on for two minutes. When you hear the popping has slowed down, stir again with the pot closed and let rest off the heat for a minute or two.
P.s be very careful DO NOT open the pot if you hear any popping, it is extremly sore to get popped by corn! #justsaying
I loved them just as is, My sweet toothed friend preferred sprinkling icing sugar over while the other preffered more salt, and as you know my rule, you eat it the way you like it!
So go on, make it already!
